Celebrate Sir Walter Scott’s birthday with a rare performance of ‘Macduff’s Cross’, in the exclusive setting of Abbotsford’s magnificent library.

Joot Theatre, from Dundee University, will take you back to Abbotsford 1823, where a group of renowned thespians gather to rehearse Walter Scott’s new play. Watch as tensions mount and tempers flare when it becomes apparent that Sir Walter’s opinion of his historical drama differs from that of his actors. Unknown whether Scott’s play, ‘ Macduff’s Cross’ was ever performed during his lifetime, Joot Theatre provide a refreshing behind the scenes take on Scott’s work. With humorous asides, this performance promises to delight today’s audience.

Running time: approximately 75 minutes, including a 15 minute interval in which the group will also perform selected readings of Scott’s work, making this an exceptional evening to round off the festivities for the great author’s birthday.
