PhD Student Success! Lauren Christie to present at ‘Intermedial Frankensteins’, Bordeaux

Congratulations to 4C PhD student Lauren Christie, supervised by Dr Daniel Cook, who has won an international bursary to present a paper at the bi-lingual conference on INTERMEDIAL FRANKENSTEINS, at the University of Bordeaux, Montaigne, which takes place on the 18th- 19th October 2018
This conference will seek to explore Frankenstein’s intermedial destiny through a focus on medium specificity, in the hope of delineating the meaning-making process generated by intermedial circulation, through literature, drama, video games, comics and popular culture more generally.
The title of Ms Christie’s paper is ‘Monsters Under the Bed’. It will specifically examine the development of the monster in children’s literature, literary adaptations for a juvenile audience (particularly of Frankenstein), and ways in which children’s Gothic fiction can encourage and inspire reading for pleasure in society and education.
